Making the Move to Newport
The Newport PTSA invites all parents of 8th graders bound for Newport to its informative, award-winning presentation, "Making the Move to Newport". This year's presentation will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. in the Newport High School Commons. "Making the Move to Newport" covers a huge variety of information not covered in the school's presentation to 8th grade parents...more info about how Newport communicates with parents & students, what to expect on your calendar, what financial costs to expect...and much, much more. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT!!

Monday June 2, 2008 7:00 PM - Newport High School Main Gym

Incoming 8th Grade Parents and students are invited to learn about our school programs including Athletics, Fine Arts, Clubs, Activities and Student Government

7:00 PM - Main Gym - Large Group Presentation
15 minutes - Athletics (Gill James)
15 minutes - Fine Arts (Fine Arts Dept.)
15 minutes - Student Government and Clubs

8:00 PM - Arena Format - Main Gym and Commons

Each sport, activity or club will have a table with information promoting their program.

Spring Physicals
Knights Athletics Booster Association (KABA) sponsored event. Tuesday, June 3rd 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Get your Fall Sports Eligibility Paperwork and if needed schedule a physical (physicals are good for 2 years). Fall Sports Paperwork is due in August. Volunteer doctors and staff will be available. Appointments needed and limited availability. Contact Gill James for more information jamesg@bsd405.org

Newport Spirit Wear
Your incoming Freshman will be able to purchase Class of 2012 sweats in August when they take care of all of their Back-To-School paperwork. I encourage you to do so!

Please forward this information to any lists you might have of other parents of incoming 8th graders - sports teams, friends, neighbors, 8th grade party planning committees, and the like. I especially need your help if you are coming from a school other than Odle, International, Tyee, or Tillicum. I can advertise the presentation pretty well to those parents via their office staff & PTSA leaders, yet for all others I am at a disadvantage and really need you to help me spread the word to other families headed to Newport.
