Principal’s Letter
Please take a moment to read the attached letter from Newport Principal Heidi Fiore. All students will pick up their official schedules in the Commons when they arrive on Monday in order to be admitted to class. If there are any issues with a schedule, your student needs to attend classes as scheduled and go to the counseling center to make an appointment with their counselor. The counselor will call your student out of class to deal with the schedule problem.

Drop off all forms in the office and payments can be made with the accountant this week if your student missed the check-in days

Junior Sweats – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Junior Class officers will accept orders for junior sweats during lunches the second week of school. The students will do the hard work but we need some parents who can come in to school to oversee the transactions. If you are available to work any of the following day/time segments, please respond directly to me or to Van Onishi at onishiv@bsd405.org or 425-456-7489.

Tuesday, September 7: 11:15-12:40 (1st lunch is 11:15-11:45 and 2nd lunch is 12:10-12:40)

Thursday, September 9: 10:45-12:55 (1st lunch is 10:45-11:15 and 2nd lunch is 12:25-12:55)

Friday, September 10: 11:15-12:40 (1st lunch is 11:15-11:45 and 2nd lunch is 12:10-12:40

Disco Dance
The first dance of the year is Friday, September 3 from 9:00 pm to midnight, following the home football game against Interlake. Students need to buy their tickets this week.
• Tickets will be sold Tuesday, August 31 (both lunches); Wednesday, September 1 (after school); and Thursday, September 2 (both lunches and after school). No sales on Friday.
• Tickets are $5 w/o ASB and $4 with ASB.
• Guest passes for students not attending Newport - The deadline to turn in the completed form is the Wednesday, before the dance, at 3:15. No exceptions! Completed Guest Passes due Wednesday, September 1 by 3:15 - no exceptions.
• Remember, if your student does not attend school on Friday, he/she will not be admitted to the dance, even if he/she has purchased a ticket.

Picture Retakes & Picture ID
Anyone who missed pictures on Check In Day needs to go to the Commons on Wednesday, September 8, after 12:40. This is your student’s last chance to get a photo ASB card.

Open House/Classroom Bucks
This event is on Thursday, September 23. There will be class meetings at 6:15, then you get to visit your student’s teachers starting at 7:00. During the evening, we will collect money for our annual “Classroom Bucks” fundraiser, which is all given to our wonderful teachers in the form of grants. Please give generously. Virtually every sort of booster wear, booster gear, and booster food will be on display and available for purchase on Open House night. Remember your check book.

Homecoming Tailgate Party

ASPEN News
Recycling event: Saturday, September 11 at Newport High School from 9:00-3:00 through local non-profit 1GreenPlanet, an organization that collects old appliances, furniture, etc. and recycles them in an eco-friendly manner for a small donation. Aspen will accept donations. Minimum donation is $10 for small items and $20 for many items.
Kaplan SAT Practice Test: Saturday, September 11 8:30-1:00 at Newport High School. $20 re-registered. Register by September 9.

Newport Girls Swim & Dive Booster Club Event
California Pizza Kitchen fundraiser. Eat at CPK anytime during the weekend of Sep 10 - 12th, present our coupon when placing your order and they will donate 20% of the meals bought to our team. Coupons will be available in the office or you can contact us at nhsgirlsswive@gmail.com.
